He studied Mathematics at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (EKPA). After graduating from EKPA (1970), he served for 2 years in the Greek Army during which he was a professor of Mathematics in secondary education. With an IKY scholarship he went to Britain for postgraduate studies in Computational Numerical Analysis and Large Computer Systems Software. He holds a Master of Science (M.Sc., 1975) and a Philosophy Doctor (Ph.D., 1980) from the University of Brunel, England. He attended and worked in special postgraduate programmes at Imperial College, ULCC and Dundee Universities, the NPL Research Center and the ICL and CDC Companies. He worked as a Research Fellow at the Universities of London and Brunel (1975-1980). From 1981 to 2013 he served as Associate Professor and Professor at the Agricultural University of Athens, former Director of the Department, Head of Department and Vice Rector for Academic Affairs.
Research interests: The published work includes academic scientific papers and studies in Informatics and Computational Standards. Of these works, 114 were published in international scientific journals (journal papers), 16 are books by international scientific institutes (Springer-Verlag, Elsevier, etc.) and 12 are Completed Computer Software Packages (patented) published in international computer libraries H/Υ. Also, much of the research work has been published in the proceedings of international scientific conferences and Scientific Application Studies (mainly Feasibility Studies). Within the above scientific areas he has been and is the publisher, author and editor of a significant number of international scientific journals. Fourteen Ph.D. candidates, who are currently professors and / or executives of the State and international organizations, studied near him.
He was a founding member and President of the scientific societies EFITA (European Federation of ICT in Agriculture, Forestry and Environment), HAICTA (Hellenic Association of ICT in Agriculture) and SCIS (Scientific Council for the Information Society).
In addition to and in parallel with his academic career, he was, for a number of years, a Scientific Associate and unpaid Advisor to the Ministers of the Presidency, Interior, Public Administration, Health and Justice of the Governments G. Ralli, Andrea Papandreou and Costa Simitis.
